Created by Samuele Ambrosi from the Veneto region of Italy, the name is a stylized abbreviation of the region, with the letters also standing for "Venezia Nascosta Tradizionale Originale" (Hidden Traditional Original Venice). The drink was designed to showcase grappa, a spirit often overlooked in cocktails, softened by chamomile-infused honey and given body by egg white. It won Ambrosi recognition in international competitions and was added to the IBA New Era Drinks list.
