A Greyhound served in a salt-rimmed glass, the salt being what distinguishes the two. Rim a highball glass with salt, build the gin and grapefruit juice over ice, and stir. Vodka is a common substitute for the gin. The name was British slang for a ship's deckhand, who would be perpetually salt-sprayed.
