An Independent Drinker original: the Jolly Rangpur dressed up with a red wine float, borrowing the trick from the New York Sour. Shake the gin, lemon, and grenadine with ice and strain into a chilled coupe or rocks glass, then gently float the red wine over the back of a bar spoon so it settles into a dark crimson layer on top. A fruity, dry red works best, adding tannic depth that cuts the candy sweetness.
