Notes
Invented in the 1970s by Norman Jay Hobday at Henry Africa's, a fern bar in San Francisco's Russian Hill that opened in 1969. The bar was named after an old flame of Hobday's mother, a man who had served in the French Foreign Legion. Likely named after lemon drop candy, it became one of the defining drinks of the 1970s San Francisco bar scene.
