Notes

First appeared in Crosby Gaige's 1945 Cocktail Guide and Ladies' Companion. The name references Captain James Lawrence's dying command during a War of 1812 naval battle, words that became a rallying cry for the US Navy. The recipe is suspiciously close to the Napoleon Cocktail in the 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book, just renamed with no credit. Largely forgotten until it was revived around 2004 at Zig Zag Café in Seattle.
