Notes
One of the few trademarked cocktails — Gosling Brothers Ltd. in Bermuda insists a Dark 'n' Stormy must be made with their Black Seal rum, a claim they've enforced legally. The drink dates back to the years after World War I, when British sailors stationed in Bermuda mixed locally produced dark rum with the ginger beer being brewed by the Royal Naval Officer's Club. The name reportedly came from a sailor who compared its appearance to "a cloud that only a fool or a dead man would sail under." It was added to the IBA's New Era Drinks list and remains Bermuda's unofficial national drink.
