Notes

A Prohibition-era sour designed to mask the harsh taste of bathtub gin with honey — the name is 1920s slang for "the best of everything." Often attributed to Frank Meier, head bartender at the Ritz Paris, it appeared in his 1936 The Artistry of Mixing Drinks. The drink fell into obscurity for decades before the craft cocktail revival brought it back, and it's now one of the most commonly ordered gin sours in the world.
