Simply equal parts brandy and Bénédictine, the pairing said to have originated at the 21 Club in New York in the 1930s, when drinkers began cutting the sweet herbal liqueur with cognac. Stir gently with ice and strain, or build in a snifter and serve neat. The blend was later bottled by Bénédictine as a ready-made product.
